We welcome Faye Adams to our growing network of self-employed advisers. Faye will be working with Lee Adams, (no relation before you ask,) under the trading style of Peritus International, providing mortgage services for British ex-pats and foreign nationals buying in the UK.
We had a quick chat with Faye to get to know her better…
What is a typical day in the life of an international mortgage adviser?
It's fascinating and rewarding. I meet amazing people from all around the world, and I help them achieve their goals of investing in UK property or finding their dream home when they visit or return to live in the UK. It's a unique sector.
What are you looking forward to working with Peritus?
I’m looking forward to managing my own workload and cases to ensure all my clients get the best service possible.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
When a mortgage offer is released I still get excited and can't wait to give the client the good news. Knowing I have helped someone achieve their goals is always a fantastic feeling that does not go away.
Do you have any special qualifications for your role?
Yes, I studied with the Open University to complete CeMap allowing me to give mortgage advice. At the time I was employed full-time in Engineering and had a young family to care for. Looking back it was a very busy time but I was focused on achieving my goal of become a dedicated broker offering the best customer service.
Did you do any other jobs before working in finance?
Prior to working in the financial sector, I worked in engineering for the Oil and Gas industry. I've also worked for Barclays Bank on business accounts and ISA’s. I realise now banking and finance are where I'm meant to be.
Name a fun fact about you that people may not know?
I have a Diploma in Greek Mythology just so I can be handy in a pub quiz at least once in my life.
What one piece of advice would you give to your younger self?
The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, money, or awards. They are the ones that care the most. Be caring.
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted my own dog's home so I could cuddle and care for hundreds of animals all day for free but when I realised it didn’t pay the bills I had to think again.
